Re-publishing of Fly Like a Penguin

I see I haven’t posted here for half a year. Maybe I’ll do better in the future.

Progress is being made on the continuation of the Fly Like a Penguin series. I’ve decided to rewrite the first book. The story will be the same, but I think the writing of a lot of it can be improved. Originally, I was planning just to correct some typos, but now I’m in the process of a more serious rewrite.

The plan for now is to self-publish it with Create Space, and also make it available for Kindle, both of which will make it a lot better price.

I’m still working on book 3 also. Book 2 is pretty much done, but will have to be proof-read a few more times. I’m sure there will be some rewriting there, too.

I’m not sure how long all this will take, but I’m hoping to have the first book ready this spring, the second one this summer, and the third maybe next winter. We’ll see.

Slow Progress

As I expected, I haven’t added many posts to this page, and I don’t make any promises that from now on I’ll post daily, because I’m sure that won’t happen.

I thought I should comment on the progress of Volume 3, which won’t be appearing in stores any time soon. Volume 2 won’t be either. However, after a long break from writing, which wasn’t really intentional (I just kept not doing it), I have recently resumed the tale. Volume 3 should bring to a completion the adventures of Hopper and his family and friends.

Those who read the first book probably thought it was done. I did too. But now that I’ve written Volume 2, the story isn’t finished anymore.

My plan is to republish the first book with some corrections made to some stupid little mistakes I made. Then when I have Volume 3 close to completion, I hope to publish Volume 2.

This page

This page, which I’ve called “News,” is the page posts will appear on, and I’ll use it to post anything I think might be of interest, or if there are any updates on my book writing progress. I’m not sure if anyone else will consider that “something of interest.”

I haven’t generally been a great blogger, so these posts may turn out to be rare. We’ll see.

Trying to figure this out

I’m in the process of trying to figure out how this site works. I’m not naturally adept at this sort of thing, so it may take a while.

I’ve recently canceled my website called Flylikeapenguin.com because I couldn’t justify the cost. This one is free, and actually easier to use. So I think I’m going to like it when I get it figured out.

Welcome!

Marty Love, author of Fly Like a Penguin and this blog

You have stumbled upon the official website of author Marty Love. I want to welcome you and thank you for visiting. This is the place where you can find out about my books and perhaps a  few other interesting things.

Fly Like a Penguin tells about a young Rockhopper penguin named Hopper who is trying to get to his home in the Falkland Islands after being raised in Antarctica with the Emperor penguins. His long journey, which should have been a fairly short one, takes him places no penguin has gone before. He encounters danger behind every wave and times of loneliness and confusion, but he also makes many friends along the way.

This is a somewhat educational adventure story, told with humor, suitable for children, about eight years old and up, and written in a way to be enjoyed by adults as well.

I also have pages in this site with other stories I’ve written, most of them true.
